1A person who is often corrected but becomes stubborn will be suddenly destroyed, with no way to recover.
2When righteous people prosper, everyone rejoices; but when wicked people rule, everyone groans.
3Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to their father; but someone who associates with prostitutes wastes their wealth.
4A king who rules fairly brings stability to his country, but one who takes bribes destroys it.
5Someone who flatters their neighbor is setting a trap for them.
6Wicked people are caught by their own sins, but good people can sing and be joyful.
7Good people care about fairness for the poor, but wicked people don't care about understanding.
8People who mock others cause trouble in a city, but wise people calm anger.
9If a wise person goes to court with a foolish person, the fool will get angry or make fun, and there will be no peace.
10People who want to kill others hate honest people; they try to harm those who live rightly.
11A foolish person lets all their anger out, but a wise person keeps themselves calm.
12If a ruler listens to lies, all of their advisors will be corrupt.
13Poor people and those who oppress them have one thing in common: Yahweh gives sight to both their eyes.
14A king who judges the poor fairly will have his rule last forever.
15Discipline brings wisdom, but a child who is left to do whatever they want brings shame to their mother.
16When wicked people increase, sin increases; but good people will see them fall.
17Discipline your child, and they will give you peace; yes, they will bring joy to your heart.
18Where people don't have guidance, they lose all self-control; but those who follow the law are blessed.
19You can't correct a servant with just words. Even if they understand, they won't obey.
20Do you see someone who speaks too quickly? There is more hope for a fool than for them.
21Anyone who spoils their servant from a young age will find that the servant eventually acts like a son.
22An angry person causes conflict, and someone who gets mad easily commits many sins.
23A person's pride brings them down, but someone with a humble attitude gains honor.
24Anyone who helps a thief is an enemy to their own life. They take an oath but don't dare to speak up in court.
25Being afraid of people can trap you, but trusting in Yahweh keeps you safe.
26Many people try to get the ruler’s approval, but a person receives justice from Yahweh.
27Dishonest people hate good people, and those who live right hate wicked people.
