Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘When you enter the land where you will live, which I am giving to you,
and you prepare an offering by fire to Yahweh, whether a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or a freewill offering, or one of your regular feasts, to create a pleasing aroma to Yahweh, from the herd or from the flock;
then the person bringing the offering to Yahweh must also bring a grain offering of two quarts of fine flour mixed with one quart of oil.
You must also prepare one quart of wine as a drink offering with each lamb for the burnt offering or sacrifice.
“‘For a ram, you must prepare a grain offering of four quarts of fine flour mixed with one and a third quarts of oil;
and for the drink offering, you must offer one and a third quarts of wine, as a pleasing aroma to Yahweh.
When you prepare a bull for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or for peace offerings to Yahweh;
then along with the bull, you must offer a grain offering of six quarts of fine flour mixed with two quarts of oil:
and for the drink offering, you must offer two quarts of wine. This is an offering made by fire, for a pleasing aroma to Yahweh.
This is how it must be done for each bull, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or for the young goats.
You must do this for every animal you prepare, according to their number.
“‘All native-born people must do these things in this way when presenting an offering made by fire, for a pleasing aroma to Yahweh.
If a foreigner lives among you, or anyone among your descendants, and wants to offer an offering made by fire, for a pleasing aroma to Yahweh, they must do it just as you do.
For the community, there will be one law for you and for the foreigner living among you; it is a law forever throughout your generations. The foreigner will be treated the same as you before Yahweh.
There will be one law and one rule for you and for the foreigner living among you.’”
Yahweh said to Moses,
“Tell the people of Israel: ‘When you enter the land I am bringing you into,
and you eat bread from the land, you must present a special offering to Yahweh.
You must offer a cake from the first of your dough as a special offering. You will lift it up just like the offering from the threshing floor.
You must give a special offering to Yahweh from the first of your dough throughout all your generations.
“‘If you accidentally make a mistake and do not follow all these commands that Yahweh gave to Moses,
all the commands Yahweh gave you through Moses, from the day Yahweh gave the command and in all your future generations,
then if the community did it without realizing it, the whole community must offer one young bull as a burnt offering for a pleasing smell to Yahweh, along with its grain offering and drink offering, as required, and one male goat as an offering for sin.
The priest will perform a ritual to make things right for the entire community of Israel, and they will be forgiven. This is because it was a mistake, and they brought their offering to Yahweh, an offering made by fire, and their sin offering before Yahweh for their mistake.
The entire community of Israel will be forgiven, as will any foreigner living among them, because everyone in the community made the mistake without realizing it.
“‘If an individual person makes a mistake and sins without realizing it, they must offer a female goat a year old as an offering for sin.
The priest will perform a ritual to make things right for the person who made the mistake, for the sin they committed unknowingly before Yahweh, and they will be forgiven.
You will have the same law for anyone who does something accidentally, whether they are a native-born Israelite or a foreigner living among them.
“‘But if anyone, whether a native-born Israelite or a foreigner, does something intentionally and defiantly, they insult Yahweh. That person must be cut off from their people.
Because they have shown contempt for Yahweh’s word and broken his command, that person must be completely cut off. Their guilt will be on them.’”
While the people of Israel were in the desert, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.
Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.
They held him in custody because it was not yet clear what should be done to him.
Yahweh said to Moses, “The man must definitely be put to death. The entire community must stone him to death outside the camp.”
The whole community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Tell the Israelites that for generations to come, they must make tassels on the corners of their clothes and attach a blue cord to each tassel.
You will have these tassels so that when you see them, you will remember all of Yahweh’s commands and obey them. This will prevent you from following your own desires and your own eyes, which have led you to be unfaithful.
Then you will remember and obey all my commands, and you will be holy to your God.
I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am Yahweh your God.”
