He said to his followers, “It’s impossible to avoid situations that cause people to stumble, but how terrible it will be for the person who causes them!
It would be better for that person to have a large millstone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea, than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, tell him where he went wrong. If he changes his mind, forgive him.
If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you saying, ‘I’m sorry,’ you must forgive him.”
The apostles said to the Lord, “Give us more faith.”
The Lord said, "If you had faith as tiny as a mustard seed, you could tell this sycamore tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."
Let's say one of you has a servant plowing or tending sheep. When the servant comes in from the field, will you immediately tell them, 'Come and sit down to eat'?
No, instead, you will tell them, 'Prepare my dinner, get dressed properly, and serve me while I eat and drink. Afterward, you may eat and drink.'
Does the master thank the servant for doing what they were told? I don't think so.
In the same way, when you have done everything you were commanded, you should say, 'We are simply servants who have done our duty. We aren't owed any special thanks.'
As Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem, he was going through the border area between Samaria and Galilee.
As he entered a certain village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance.
They called out loudly, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
When he saw them, he told them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." As they went, their leprosy was cleansed.
One of them, when he realized he was healed, turned back, praising God in a loud voice.
He fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, thanking him; and he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, "Didn’t all ten get clean? So where are the other nine?
Was no one found who would come back and give glory to God, except this foreigner?"
Then he told him, "Get up and go. Your faith has made you well."
When the Pharisees asked Jesus when God’s Kingdom would come, he answered them, "God’s Kingdom doesn’t come in a way that people can observe it.
People won’t say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘Look, there it is!’ because, in fact, God’s Kingdom is within you."
He said to his disciples, "The days will come when you will want to see even one day of the Son of Man, but you won't see it.
People will tell you, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘Look, there!’ Don’t go after them or follow them,
because just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will the Son of Man be on his day.
But first, he must suffer many things and be rejected by the people of this generation.
The coming of the Son of Man will be like the time of Noah.
People were eating, drinking, marrying, and being given in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
It was also like the time of Lot: people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building.
But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from the sky and destroyed them all.
It will be the same way on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
On that day, if someone is on the roof with their belongings inside the house, they shouldn't go down to get them. Likewise, if someone is in the field, they shouldn't turn back.
Remember Lot's wife!
Whoever tries to hold onto their life will lose it, but whoever gives up their life will preserve it.
I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, and the other will be left.
There will be two women grinding grain together; one will be taken, and the other will be left.
They asked him, "Where, Lord?" He told them, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
