“Yes, at this my heart trembles, and is moved from its place.
Listen closely to the sound of his voice, the sound that comes from his mouth.
He sends it out under the whole sky, and his lightning to the ends of the earth.
After it a voice roars. He thunders with the voice of his majesty. He doesn't hold back anything when his voice is heard.
God thunders wonderfully with his voice. He does great things, which we cannot understand.
For he says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth;’ likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain.
He stops the activity of every person, so that all people whom he has made may understand his power.
Then the animals take cover, and remain in their dens.
The storm comes out of its chamber, and cold out of the north.
By the breath of God, ice is given, and the surface of the waters is frozen.
Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture. He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning.
It is directed by his guidance, so that they may do whatever he commands them on the surface of the inhabited world,
Whether it is for punishment, or for his land, or for kindness, that he causes it to come.
“Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the amazing works of God.
Do you know how God controls them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?
Do you know how the clouds work, the amazing works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
You who feel warm in your clothing, when the earth is still because of the south wind?
Can you, with him, spread out the sky, which is strong like a cast metal mirror?
Teach us what we should tell him, for we cannot present our case because of darkness.
Should I tell him that I want to speak? Or would a person rather be swallowed up?
Right now, people can't see the bright light in the sky, but then the wind passes and clears the clouds.
Golden splendor comes from the north. Awesome majesty belongs to God.
We cannot reach the Almighty. He is great in power. Because he is just and perfectly righteous, he will not oppress anyone.
That is why people respect him. He pays no attention to those who think they are wise.
