Isaiah

Chapter 27

Hope and the coming Savior.

On that day, Yahweh, with his harsh, great, and strong sword, will punish Leviathan the swift serpent, and Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will kill the sea monster.

On that day, sing about her: “A pleasant vineyard!

I, Yahweh, guard it. I will water it every moment. So that no one can harm it, I will protect it day and night.

I am not angry, but if I find thorny weeds, I will fight them! I will march on them and burn them all together.

Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me. Let him make peace with me.”

In the future, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the whole world with fruit.

Has God struck them as he struck their attackers? Or are they killed like their killers were killed?

You contend with them in due measure when you send them away. He has removed them with his fierce blast on the day of the east wind.

Therefore, by this, Jacob’s wrongdoing will be forgiven, and this is the complete result of removing his sin: that he turns all the altar stones into crumbled chalk stones, so that the Asherah poles and incense altars will never rise again.

For the fortified city is deserted, a dwelling abandoned and forsaken, like the wilderness. Calves will graze there, and lie down there, and eat its branches.

When its branches dry out, they will be broken off. Women will come and set them on fire, because they are a people who don't understand. So the one who made them will not feel sorry for them, and the one who formed them will not show them any kindness.

On that day, Yahweh will thresh grain from the Euphrates River all the way to the Brook of Egypt. And you, children of Israel, will be gathered one by one.

On that day, a great trumpet will be blown. Those who were about to die in the land of Assyria and those who were outcasts in the land of Egypt will come. They will worship Yahweh on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
