Isaiah

Chapter 25

Hope and the coming Savior.

Yahweh, you are my God. I will praise you! I will honor your name, for you have done amazing things—plans made long ago, carried out with complete faithfulness and truth.

For you have turned a city into a heap of rubble, a fortified city into ruins, and a palace of foreigners into something that is no longer a city. It will never be built again.

Therefore, a strong people will glorify you. A city of fearsome nations will fear you.

You have been a safe place for the poor, a safe place for the needy in their trouble. You are a shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the cruel attack of terrible people is like a storm hitting a wall.

Just as heat in a dry place calms the noise of strangers, and as heat is lessened by the shade of a cloud, so the songs of the terrible people will be silenced.

On this mountain, Yahweh of Armies will prepare for all people a feast of rich food, a feast of fine wines, with rich food full of flavor and well-aged fine wines.

On this mountain, he will remove the covering that hides all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from every face. He will take away the disgrace of his people from all over the earth, because Yahweh has promised it.

On that day it will be said, “Look, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us! This is Yahweh! We have waited for him. Let’s be glad and rejoice in his salvation!”

For on this mountain, Yahweh’s power will rest. Moab will be trampled down in its place, just as straw is trampled down in the manure pile’s water.

He will spread out his hands in the middle of it, like a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim, but Moab’s pride will be brought low along with all the work of their hands.

He has torn down the high fortress of your walls, brought it low, laid it on the ground, down to the dust.
