This is what Isaiah, Amoz's son, saw about Judah and Jerusalem.
In the future, the mountain where Yahweh's temple is will be established as the highest of the mountains and raised above the hills; all nations will come streaming to it.
Many people will go and say, "Come, let's go up to Yahweh's mountain, to the house of Jacob's God. He will teach us his ways, and we will live according to his paths." For teaching will come from Jerusalem, and Yahweh's word from Jerusalem.
He will judge conflicts between nations and make decisions for many people. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will no longer fight each other or train for war.
People of Jacob, come, let us live in the light of Yahweh.
For you have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of practices from the east; they consult diviners like the Philistines and make alliances with foreigners' children.
Their land is full of silver and gold, and there's no end to their treasures. Their land is also full of horses, and there's no end to their chariots.
Their land is full of idols. They worship things their own hands and fingers have made.
People are brought low and humbled; therefore, do not forgive them.
Go into the rocks and hide in the dust, away from the terror of Yahweh and the glory of his majesty.
Human pride will be brought low, and human arrogance will be humbled. Yahweh alone will be honored on that day.
For the Lord Yahweh of Armies will have a day of judgment for everything proud and arrogant, for everything that is lifted up, to bring it low.
This includes all the tall and proud cedars of Lebanon, and all the oaks of Bashan,
all the high mountains, and all the hills that are lifted up,
every tall tower, and every fortified wall,
all the ships of Tarshish, and all beautiful artwork.
Human pride will be humbled, and human arrogance will be brought low. Yahweh alone will be honored on that day.
The idols will completely disappear.
People will go into caves in the rocks and holes in the ground, away from the terror of Yahweh and the glory of his majesty, when he rises to violently shake the earth.
On that day, people will throw away their idols of silver and gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and bats.
They will go into the caverns of the rocks and into the cracks of the jagged rocks, away from the terror of Yahweh and the glory of his majesty, when he rises to violently shake the earth.
Stop trusting in humans, whose life is at the mercy of a breath in their nostrils. What makes them so important?
