Isaiah

Chapter 15

Hope and the coming Savior.

1This is a message about Moab: In one night, Ar of Moab is ruined and destroyed. In one night, Kir of Moab is ruined and destroyed.

2They have gone to Bayith and Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab cries over Nebo and Medeba. All their heads are shaved, and every beard is cut off.

3In their streets, they wear sackcloth. In their streets and on their rooftops, everyone is crying and weeping profusely.

4Heshbon and Elealeh cry out. Their voices are heard as far as Jahaz. Therefore, the armed men of Moab shout loudly, and their souls tremble within them.

5My heart cries out for Moab! Its nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah. They go up the path of Luhith weeping because on the way to Horonaim, they raise a cry of destruction.

6The waters of Nimrim will become a desert, for the grass has withered, the young plants have died, and there is no green thing left.

7So they will carry away their wealth and their stored goods over the brook of the willows.

8The cry of distress has spread through all the borders of Moab; its wailing reaches Eglaim and Beer Elim.

9The waters of Dimon are full of blood. But I will bring even more trouble to Dimon: a lion will attack those in Moab who escape and the remaining people in the land.
