Yahweh said to Noah, "Come into the ship with your whole family, because I have seen that you are righteous among the people of this time."
You must take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, a male and its female. From the animals that are not clean, take two, a male and its female.
Also take seven pairs of every kind of bird, a male and its female, to keep their species alive throughout the whole earth.
In seven days, I will make it rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. I will wipe every living thing I have made from the face of the ground.
Noah did everything that Yahweh commanded him.
Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came upon the earth.
Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives went into the ship to escape the floodwaters.
Clean animals, unclean animals, birds, and everything that crawls on the ground,
went into the ship to Noah, in pairs, male and female, just as God had commanded Noah.
After seven days, the floodwaters came upon the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of that month, on that very day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.
It rained on the earth for forty days and forty nights.
On that same day, Noah and his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, along with Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons, entered the ship.
They, and every kind of wild animal, all the livestock, every kind of creature that crawls on the earth, and every kind of bird — every winged creature,
went into the ship to Noah, two by two, from all living creatures that have the breath of life in them.
Those that entered went in male and female of all living things, just as God had commanded Noah. Then Yahweh closed him in.
The flood was on the earth for forty days. The waters increased and lifted the ship, and it floated high above the earth.
The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.
The waters rose very high on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire sky were covered.
The waters rose more than twenty feet higher, and the mountains were covered.
Every living thing that moved on the earth died, including birds, livestock, wild animals, everything that creeps on the ground, and all people.
Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.
Every living thing on the surface of the ground was wiped out, including people, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.
The waters covered the earth for 150 days.
