Among the descendants of the priests were the descendants of Habaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai, who married one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their family name.
These people searched for their names in the genealogical records, but they were not found. So they were considered unclean and removed from the priesthood.
The governor told them they could not eat of the most holy gifts until a priest could serve with the Urim and the Thummim.
The total number of people in the whole assembly was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,

So the priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the doorkeepers, and the temple servants settled in their own towns, and all the people of Israel settled in their towns.
