Ezekiel

Chapter 7

Wild visions of God's glory.

The word of Yahweh came to me again, saying,

“You, son of man, this is what the Lord Yahweh says to the land of Israel: ‘An end! The end has come for the four corners of the land.

Now the end has come for you, and I will send my anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways and bring on you all your detestable practices.

I will not spare you or show you any pity. Instead, I will make you pay for your behavior, and your disgusting practices will remain among you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

“This is what the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Disaster! A unique disaster! Look, it is coming.

An end has come. The end has come! It is waking up against you. Look, it is coming.

Your doom has arrived for you, people of the land! The time has come! The day is near, a day of confusion, not of joyful shouting, on the mountains.

Soon I will pour out my anger on you, and I will finish punishing you. I will judge you based on your actions. I will bring all your disgusting practices upon you.

I will not spare you or show you any pity. I will repay you for your actions. Your disgusting practices will remain among you; and you will know that I, Yahweh, am the one striking.

“‘Look, the day! Look, it is coming! Your doom has been sent out. The rod has blossomed. Pride has budded.

Violence has grown into a tool of wickedness. None of them will be left, no one from their crowds, nothing from their wealth. There will be nothing of value among them.

The time has come! The day is near. Don't let the buyer be happy, nor the seller mourn; because anger is upon everyone.

For the seller will not return to what was sold, even if they are still alive; because the vision concerns all of them. No one will return; no one will find strength in their wicked life.

They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready; but no one goes to battle; because my anger is on all of them.

“‘Outside is the sword, and inside are disease and hunger. Those in the field will die by the sword. Those in the city will be destroyed by hunger and disease.

But those among them who escape will do so, and they will be on the mountains like doves in the valleys, all of them moaning, each one because of their sin.

All hands will be weak, and all knees will be like water.

They will also dress in sackcloth, and terror will cover them. Shame will be on every face, and baldness on all their heads.

They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like something unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them on the day of Yahweh’s anger. They won’t satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs; because it has been the cause of their sin.

As for their beautiful jewelry, they used it grandly; but they made idols of their disgusting and detestable things from it. Therefore, I have made it unclean to them.

I will give it into the hands of foreigners as plunder, and to the wicked people of the earth as loot; and they will defile it.

I will also turn my face away from them, and they will defile my sacred place. Robbers will enter it and defile it.

“‘Make chains; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

Therefore, I will bring the most ruthless nations, and they will take over the houses. I will also put an end to the pride of the strong. Their holy places will be defiled.

Disaster is coming! They will look for peace, but there will be none.

Trouble will follow trouble, and rumor will follow rumor. They will look for a vision from a prophet, but the Law will be lost from the priest, and guidance from the elders.

The king will mourn, and the prince will be overcome with despair. The people of the land will be troubled. I will treat them according to their actions, and I will judge them based on their own decisions. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.'
