Ezekiel

Chapter 35

Wild visions of God's glory.

Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

“Son of man, turn your attention to Mount Seir and prophesy against it.

Tell it that the Lord Yahweh says: ‘I am against you, Mount Seir. I will reach out my hand against you and turn you into a desolate wasteland.

I will destroy your cities, and you will become a wasteland. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’

Because you have always been hostile and handed over the people of Israel to be killed by the sword during their time of trouble, when their final punishment came,

therefore, as surely as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will prepare you for bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.

So I will make Mount Seir a desolate wasteland, and I will cut off from it anyone who travels through it.

I will fill its mountains with your slain. People killed by the sword will fall on your hills, in your valleys, and in all your streams.

I will make you a permanent wasteland, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

Because you said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will take possession of them,’ even though Yahweh was there,

therefore, as surely as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will act according to your anger and the envy you showed out of your hatred against them. I will make myself known among them when I judge you.

You will know that I, Yahweh, have heard all your insults that you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They are desolate; they have been given to us to devour.’

You have boasted against me with your mouth and multiplied your words against me. I have heard it.

The Lord Yahweh says this: ‘When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.

Just as you rejoiced over the inheritance of the people of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Edom, every part of it. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’
