Exodus

Chapter 39

God rescues His people from slavery.

They used the blue, purple, and scarlet fabric to make finely crafted garments for ministering in the holy place, and they made Aaron’s holy garments, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.

He made the ephod from gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen.

They hammered the gold into thin sheets and cut it into strands to weave it into the blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen. This was the work of a skilled craftsman.

They made two shoulder straps for it, joined together at their ends.

The skillfully woven waistband that was on the ephod, used to fasten it, was made of the same piece and material: gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.

They took onyx stones, set them in gold, and engraved them with the names of the sons of Israel, like the engraving on a seal.

He placed them on the ephod's shoulder straps as memorial stones for the people of Israel, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

He made the breastplate; it was the work of a skilled craftsman, similar to the work of the ephod, made from gold, blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen.

It was square and folded in half. It was nine inches long and nine inches wide when doubled.

They set four rows of stones in it. The first row had a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl.

The second row had a turquoise, a sapphire, and an emerald.

The third row had a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst.

The fourth row had a chrysolite, an onyx, and a jasper. They were all set in gold filigree.

The stones represented the twelve sons of Israel, with each stone engraved with the name of one of the twelve tribes, like a seal.

They made twisted chains of pure gold for the breastplate, like cords.

They made two gold settings and two gold rings, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.

They fastened the two braided gold chains to the two rings at the ends of the breastplate.

They attached the other two ends of the two braided chains to the two settings, and placed them on the shoulder straps of the ephod, on its front.

They made two gold rings and put them on the two lower ends of the breastplate, on its inner edge next to the ephod.

They made two more gold rings and attached them to the two shoulder straps of the ephod, underneath, on the front, close to where it joined, and just above the ephod’s skillfully woven waistband.

They tied the breastplate's rings to the ephod's rings with a blue cord, so that it would rest on the ephod's skillfully woven waistband and not come loose from the ephod, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

He made the robe for the ephod entirely of woven blue material.

The opening for the head in the middle of the robe was like the opening of a coat of mail, with a reinforcing band around it so it wouldn't tear.

They made pomegranates of blue, purple, scarlet yarn, and twisted linen for the hem of the robe.

They made bells of pure gold and placed them alternately with the pomegranates all around the hem of the robe.

A bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, all around the hem of the robe, for use during priestly service, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

They made finely woven coats of fine linen for Aaron and his sons.

They made the turban of fine linen, the headbands of fine linen, and the linen undergarments of fine twisted linen.

They made the sash of fine twisted linen, and blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, embroidered by an artisan, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

They made the plate for the holy crown out of pure gold and engraved on it, like a seal, “HOLY TO YAHWEH.”

They attached a blue cord to it to fasten it to the turban at the top, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

So all the work for the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, was finished. The people of Israel did everything just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

They brought the tabernacle to Moses: the tent and all its furnishings—its clasps, its boards, its bars, its posts, and its bases;

the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of fine leather, and the curtain for screening;

the ark of the covenant with its poles and the atonement cover;

the table, all its utensils, and the showbread;

the pure lampstand with its lamps arranged in order, all its utensils, and the oil for the light;

the gold altar, the anointing oil, the sweet incense, and the curtain for the entrance of the Tent;

the bronze altar with its bronze grating, its poles, all its utensils, the basin and its stand;

the hangings for the courtyard, its posts and its bases, the curtain for the gate of the courtyard, its ropes and its tent pegs, and all the equipment for the service of the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting;

the specially woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to serve as priests.

The people of Israel did all the work exactly as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

Moses inspected all the work, and indeed, they had done it just as Yahweh had commanded. So Moses blessed them.
