Therefore, copy God, since you are his dearly loved children.
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Sexual immorality, any kind of impurity, and greed should not even be mentioned among you, because these actions are not appropriate for God’s holy people.
Don’t use obscene language, or foolish talk, or dirty jokes; these are not proper. Instead, give thanks.
You can be sure of this: no one who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is greedy (which is the same as worshiping idols), will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and God.
Don’t let anyone deceive you with empty words, because of these sins the wrath of God comes upon those who refuse to obey him.
So don’t participate with them.
For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light,
because the fruit of the Spirit is found in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
Try to learn what pleases the Lord.
Do not join in with the useless acts of darkness. Instead, expose them.
It is shameful even to talk about what they do in secret.
But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for everything that is revealed is light.
That is why it says, “Wake up, you who are sleeping! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
So be very careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like wise people,
making the most of every opportunity, because these are evil times.
Therefore, don't be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
Don't get drunk on wine, which leads to uncontrolled behavior. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music with your whole heart to the Lord.
Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Submit to one another because of your reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
Just as the church submits to Christ, so wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—
for we are members of his body.
“Therefore a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
