2 Chronicles

Chapter 4

Kings, the temple, and worship.

1Then he made a bronze altar that was thirty feet long, thirty feet wide, and fifteen feet high.

2He also made the Molten Sea, which was fifteen feet in diameter from rim to rim, circular, seven and a half feet high, and forty-five feet in circumference.

3Under its rim, there were sculpted oxen circling it. There were ten oxen per every seven and a half feet, cast in two rows when the Sea was cast.

4It rested on twelve oxen: three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The Sea was on top of them, and all their hindquarters faced inward.

5The walls of the Sea were a handbreadth thick, and its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It could hold about seventeen thousand gallons.

6He also made ten movable stands and placed five on the right side and five on the left side, for washing. The items used for burnt offerings were rinsed in them, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.

7He made ten gold lampstands according to their specifications and placed them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left.

8He also made ten tables and placed them inside the temple, five on the right and five on the left. He made one hundred gold basins.

9Furthermore, he made the courtyard for the priests and the large outer courtyard, with doors for the courtyard that he covered with bronze.

10He placed the Molten Sea on the right side of the temple, to the southeast.

11Huram also made the pots, shovels, and basins. So Huram completed all the work he had agreed to do for King Solomon for God's temple:

12the two pillars, the two bowls for the capitals on top of the pillars, the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on top of the pillars,

13and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, with two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals on the pillars.

14He also made the movable stands and the basins on the stands;

15the one Molten Sea and the twelve oxen under it.

16Huram, his skilled craftsman, made all the pots, shovels, forks, and other articles for King Solomon for Yahweh's temple from polished bronze.

17The king had them cast in the Jordan valley, in the clay soil between Succoth and Zeredah.

18Solomon made so many of these items that the weight of the bronze could not be calculated.

19Solomon made all the items in God's house: the gold altar, tables holding the special bread,

20lampstands with their lamps (made of pure gold) to burn as prescribed in front of the inner sanctuary,

21the gold flowers, lamps, and tongs (all made of perfect gold),

22and the pure gold snuffers, basins, spoons, and fire pans. The inner doors leading to the Most Holy Place and the doors of the temple's main hall were also made of gold.
