Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah, Zadok’s daughter.
He did what was right in Yahweh’s eyes, just as his father Uzziah had done. However, he did not enter Yahweh’s temple. The people still behaved corruptly.
He built the Upper Gate of Yahweh’s house, and he did a lot of building on the wall of Ophel.
He also built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built fortresses and towers.
He also fought against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. That same year, the Ammonites gave him one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. The Ammonites also gave him this same amount in the second and third years.
So Jotham became powerful, because he lived his life in obedience before Yahweh his God.
Now the rest of Jotham’s actions, all his wars, and his ways, look, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
Jotham died and was buried in the City of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.
