Timothy

Chapter 2

Leading the church well.

First of all, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered for everyone.

Pray for kings and all who are in positions of authority, so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in complete godliness and dignity.

This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,

who wants all people to be saved and to come to a full understanding of the truth.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and humans—the human Christ Jesus,

who gave himself as a ransom for everyone. This message was given at the right time.

I was appointed a preacher and an apostle to spread this message (I am telling the truth in Christ and not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Therefore, I want men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or doubt.

In the same way, women should dress modestly and appropriately, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes.

Instead, they should adorn themselves with good deeds, which is proper for women who claim to be godly.

Women should learn in quietness and full submission.

I don’t allow women to teach or have authority over men; they should remain quiet.

Because Adam was created first, then Eve.

Adam was not tricked, but the woman was tricked and fell into sin.

But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with self-control.
