John

Chapter 5

How to know you really know God.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Everyone who loves the Father also loves His children.

We know that we love God’s children when we love God and obey His commands.

For loving God means obeying His commands. And His commands are not difficult.

Because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is truth.

For there are three that testify:

the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three are in agreement.

If we accept the testimony of humans, God’s testimony is greater because this is God’s testimony that He has given about His Son.

Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within them. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about His Son.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

Whoever has the Son has life. Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life, and so that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

We are bold to approach him, knowing that if we ask for anything according to his will, he listens to us.

And if we know that he listens to us, no matter what we ask, we know that we will receive what we have requested from him.

If someone sees their fellow believer committing a sin that does not lead to death, they should pray, and God will give life to them for those who sin in a way that does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying you should pray about that.

All wrongdoing is sin, but there is also sin that does not lead to death.

We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin, but the Son of God protects them, and the evil one cannot touch them.

We know that we belong to God, while the whole world is under the power of the evil one.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know the true God. And we are united with the true God, through his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

My dear children, keep yourselves from idols.
